Understanding the Toolkit

The Talk-Rich Teaching Toolkit helps schools and practitioners use oracy more intentionally, particularly with learners from diverse linguistic, cultural and social backgrounds. Its five principles guide decisions about adapting classroom practice to develop oracy. Schools that piloted the Toolkit found that engaging with these principles was crucial to shaping their approach to oracy education with multilingual learners. The principles draw on published research and the practical insights of schools and teachers involved in the Toolkit’s development.
