Getting started with the Toolkit

We have split the guidance into different levels of teaching and school support, so each member of staff can see how the toolkit applies to their role.

Each page offers practical starting points for using the Talk-Rich Teaching principles in relevant ways. The advice has grown from our research before and during the Toolkit development and reflects what practitioners found worked for them in implementing change towards more oracy education.

For example, while the advantage of small group learning for multilinguals has an evidence base in research, our reference specifically to working in groups of 4 or less comes from our practitioner feedback.
